Vocal toning is a means for an individual to use their own voice to create particular frequencies or vibrations within the body and is very similar to chanting.  One difference being that when chanting, it is often words that are being chanted, while vocal toning is normally sounds (the 7 vowels).  Each vowel or sound is connected to a particular chakra, or area within the body, starting from the lower spine, all the way up to the crown of the head.  When one puts their attention to a particular area of their body and holds an intention (for ex: healing or balancing), and then tones the corresponding sound, the effects can be felt quickly and can be very profound.

Although toning may seem to be a New Age thing, it has been used for promoting wellness in many cultures around the world, including Indigenous tribes, Ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and many of the Mystery Schools.  We are now at an exciting time when much of this knowledge is re-emerging, and many scientists are studying it's effects, which is bridging the gap between science and metaphysics.

Below is a list of a few of the many benefits of toning that research has discovered

  • Increased oxygen in the cells
  • Lowered blood pressure and heart rate
  • Increased lymphatic circulation
  • Increased levels of melatonin
  • Reduced levels of stress related hormones
  • Release of endorphins—self-created opiates that work as “natural pain relievers”
  • Boosted production of interleukin-l, a protein associated with blood production
  • Increased levels of nitric oxide, (NO), a molecule associated with promotion of healing and with vascular dilation
  • Release of oxytocin, the “trust” hormone
